Support Your Local Conservation Team

YOU can help save your scenery! As a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the Blue Ridge Land Conservancy relies on the generosity of its supporters. You don’t have to own land to support the land trust–in fact, nearly all of our financial supporters are those who simply appreciate and want to protect the gorgeous backdrop of our daily lives.

Your financial support stays local and is put to work right here in our part of Virginia, preserving it for our children and their children's children. It will help BRLC’s heroic staff of five do some very important tasks:

  • Educate local landowners about conservation easements. Staff spends time in the field, on the farms, around the kitchen tables of landowners, helping them learn about conservation options for their properties and guiding them though the process of recording a conservation easement.
  • Monitor BRLC’s conserved properties. BRLC holds 44 conservation easements that protect more than 16,000 acres of land and 34 miles of streams. Staff spends hundreds of hours in the field each year monitoring these properties and meeting with landowners to ensure that the terms of the conservation easements are not being violated.

"We abuse land because we see it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.”
