George Kegley |
George Kegley came from a Wythe County farm to Roanoke College and a 44-year stint of reporting for The Roanoke Times. He and his wife, Louise, have a conservation easement on their 116-acre Monterey farm in Northeast Roanoke, the only easement on private land in the city. They want to enhance the environment by protecting the land from future development. Kegley is almost a fulltime volunteer, working with the Historical Society of Western Virginia, Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation, Blue Ridge Literacy Volunteers, RAM House, Rescue Mission, St.Mark’s Lutheran Church food pantry and a Lutheran summer camping program, in addition to Blue Ridge Land Conservancy.
