Back to Staff & Board
Linda Wade Pharis is a "newcomer," who is proud to call Roanoke home since 1984. Now retired as VP Education from Blue Ridge PBS, she was Director of Communications for Center in the Square, and in Richmond was Curator of Education at the Valentine Museum. She served on the Boards of the Richmond Printmaking Workshop and Habitat for Humanity. Working at Maymont Park in Richmond, interpreting the work of biologists and foresters, began her lifelong interest  in preserving and understanding the relationship between natural history and cultural history. She is married to educator John Pharis. They have a daughter, Virginia.

"We abuse land because we see it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.”
